Once again, the DC baking community is coming together to help prevent child abuse! 20+ local chefs are putting together a limited-run Community Cookie Box to raise money for Safe Shores in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month this April. Spearheaded by Tiffany MacIsaac and Rochelle Cooper, pastry chefs extraordinaire, this initiative aims to raise $8,500 in support of Safe Shores' mission to prevent and respond to child abuse. Your $90 purchase will include one delicious box filled with 20+ cookies from more than 20 local pastry chefs, food writers, and chefs, with all profits going to Safe Shores (that's less than $4 per cookie for a great cause!). Your payment will go directly to Safe Shores and your contact information will be shared with Safe Shores and the Community Cookie Box organizers, to coordinate your pickup purchase. $85 from every purchase is a donation to Safe Shores, with the remaining $5 covering the cost of packaging, with any remaining funds going to Safe Shores. The chefs, bakers, and journalists from across the DMV contributing will include but are not limited to: Alex Levin, Tiffany MacIsaac, Bonnie Benwick, Rochelle Cooper, Jen Lin-Liu and Daughter Sierra Simons, Isabel Coss, Jill Nguyen, Jenna Huntsburger, Alison Friedman, Zoe Ezrailson, Yesenia Jarquin, Elizabeth Kaehler, Audrey Valerio, Susan Bae, Doron Petersan, Joy Razo, Charbel Abrache, Chelsea Tan, Mr. Bake, and Angel Barreto. Once again Chris Dicea of Leonard Paper has graciously offered to supply a portion of the packaging. Purchasers must pickup their cookie box on Sunday, April 28th at La Collina (747 C Street SE, Washington, DC 20003) between 1pm-3pm. Unfortunately after 3:15pm no one will be on site for pick up so please keep that in mind while planning your commute. Thank you for understanding!
